Clarity

Clarity
By Kim Harrington

Genre: Paranormal Romance
My rating: 4 1/2 stars

ClaritySummary from Goodreads: "When you can see things others can't, where do you look for the truth?
This paranormal murder mystery will have teens reading on the edge of their seats.
Clarity "Clare" Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It's a gift.
And a curse.
When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare's ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case--but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare's brother--who has supernatural gifts of his own--becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?"

I thought this was a very interesting read, though it reminded me of that TV show "Psych".  Although Clarity's power is obviously real, unlike that guy in Psych.  I must admit I don't believe in that psychic stuff but Harrington made an intriguing and believable set of characters.  Anyway, I was definitely intrigued with the story and though I thought I knew exactly where the story was headed, I was thrown for a loop.  Twice.  Two loops.  I like those kind of books that keep you on your toes.

I was a little disturbed by the ending, but this is obviously going to have a sequel, so I think the ending will make sense when put together with the next book. Which only makes me long for the next book even more.

A great read by a debut YA author.
