Fibromyalgia. It’s a syndrome that not many people know about, but many suffer from. According to the National Fibromyalgia Association:
Fibromyalgia is characterized by chronic widespread pain, multiple tender points, abnormal pain processing, sleep disturbances, fatigue and often psychological distress. For those with severe symptoms, fibromyalgia can be extremely debilitating and interfere with basic daily activities.
So why post about it? Because it matters to me. Because I have two aunts who live with the chronic pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia. And they’re my heroes. Despite the pain and the limitations it has caused in their lives, their faith stays strong. They are an inspiration to me.
I’m just doing my little part to make this invisible syndrome visible. Love and prayers go out to my aunts and others who suffer from fibromyalgia.
May 12th is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to post it on May 12th due to blogger doing maintenance, but better late then never.
