Words

Anyone ever heard of wordle?  It's a website where you can enter text (think WIP, blogs, etc) and it will form a word cloud with the words in your text, in which the more often you use the word, the bigger it is.  Here's a wordle of this blog post. :)

So, I bring this up, because I think it's a fabulous writer's tool.  Insert your WIP and prepare to be amazed.  Especially if, after you make your wordle, you go under the setting for language and click on the very last option: show word counts.  It'll tell you how many times you've used each word.  For example, in my WIP:

  • I used the word "asked" 108 times.
  • And "like" 101 times.  I hope that's a "like" as in a comparison, not like, you know, the valley-girl like.
  • And apparently I used the word "something" 54 times.  Anyone know of something to replace the word something?
Ah, words.  There's power in them.  If they're not abused or over-used.

  1. I've seen wordle used in other blogs and it seems like a fun thing to do, although I'm too scared to use it as I'm sure my most used words are the no-no's - things like "that", "been"!

Oh the power of words indeed!

    LOL! Take care
