1) Do you write every day?
Sadly, nope. Sometimes I'll write for a few hours for a few days in a row, and then not touch my manuscript for weeks until another idea strikes. And the cycle continues, taking me on average two years to write and revise one story. I'm thinking maybe I should take a lesson from the king: Stephen King writes every day and he can knock out a novel in three months.
2) One space or two between each sentence?
Two. My world was recently rocked when I learned it's supposed to be one. Seriously? This is a habit that's gonna be hard to break.
3) Drink/foods of choice while writing?
If I'm at Starbucks, a salted caramel hot chocolate or java chip frappachino, depending on the weather. At home, raspberry iced tea--in a wine glass, so I feel all sophisticated.
4) What is your biggest source of procrastination?
Facebook. Oh, and the TV. And playing with my toddler. And... did I ever mention to you I put the "pro" in procrastinate? ;)
5) Any writing quirks/habits/routines?
Whenever I've had a writing block (when I haven't written in weeks) I go for a long walk around the neighborhood and just think about the story. I usually get a bunch of ideas and then come home and write and write and write.
All right, your turn! Can't wait to see your thoughts. :)
1) Do you write every day?
ReplyDeleteThis year I joined the 100K in 100 Days challenge where the goal is to write 1000 words a day. I have been doing it for 17 days now and have written 16,000 words. I will write another 1000 today. At first it was difficult, it took me close to five hours to write those words but in less then a week, I could finish those words in less then two. The key for me, daily writing. If I stop, it's back to square one, it becomes difficult again.
2) One space or two between each sentence?
I'm with you. Although, my publisher demands two so it's just easier to start that way.
3) Drink/foods of choice while writing?
Your choices sound great. I drink coffee or tea and snack on chips or Hot Tamales candies. The cinnamon helps my brain.
4) What is your biggest source of procrastination?
The TV. If I am determined and forgo tv until my words are complete, I'll have them done quickly. If I try to write while watching a show, nothing gets done.
5) Any writing quirks/habits/routines?
I use walking as well. I'll take my dog for a walk or I'll just walk and talk to myself in my room.
1)Yes! But not necessarily creatively or well!
ReplyDelete2)First drafts are single spaced, actual submission, double!
3)Strong large and extra strong cappuccino! Or beer.
4)The Bad Blog!
5)I think of titles after the story is written!
:-)
Take care

1) Do you write every day?
ReplyDeleteI sort of do. Is Editing writing? Also I prefer to think of it as: Do something writerly every day. This involves writing, outlining, revision, edits and I think it should also (within reason) include reading.
2) One space or two between each sentence?
One. I learned to type by playing an MMORPG. Because I talk too much, I had to graduate from two finger typing very quickly. So I didn't learn it with new or old rules, just with speed and trying to keep up with five or six conversations at once. :D
3) Drink/foods of choice while writing?
Coffee, Water - Chocolate... if anything. Or cheese - I LOVE CHEESE.
4) What is your biggest source of procrastination?
Twitter. Facebook. But most of all: Honey, lets re-watch the ENTIRETY of Star Trek TNG! Yeah, I obsess about chain watching stuff
5) Any writing quirks/habits/routines?
Once I have a point by point plot outline and sit down to write, I can't stop. Literally. I have to get as many words down on the page as it takes until I realize I'm becoming incoherent. That MS needs to be finished yesterday. I binge write - and woah betide anyone who interrupts me.
Love the questions!
It was hard for me when I learned about the one space (not two) after periods. Also, the internet/blogging/FB/Twitter kills my writing time. Like right now, for example.
