Plotting or Pantsing?
I've read many a post and article on this subject.  I'm normally a pantser. I have no idea where this blog post is going from here, I'm just typing and hoping it'll make sense.  That's what I did with my manuscript, and I think that's why it took me 3 years to write.  I spent two years just revising and editing because I'd realize I was going in the wrong direction or had huge plot holes.  And the reason it took me a whole year to write is simply because I'd get writer's block.  A lot.

So, I've decided maybe I should write my next manuscript with an outline in mind.  But the question is, what tools do you recommend for doing that?  Books?  Websites?  I've heard people rave about The Snowflake Method.  Anyone got any advice for a non-plotter like me?

Best way to print a manuscript?
In other news, I got a request from an agent to read my manuscript!  Whoo hoo!  She's requested a mailed copy.  The hubster is thinking I should get it printed at Kinkos since our ink isn't exactly cheap and we don't want to have to worry about the wear and tear on our printer.  But I'm thinking that will cost me a good $30 and a trip with a toddler and a pregnant belly, in addition to a trip to the post office.  So, what do you recommend is the best way to print a manuscript?  Do you use your own printer or another source for printing 206 pages?

And I just thought I'd share the latest update with my blogging friends.  Baby number two is another boy!  So excited my little monkey will have a playmate to share his toys and clothes with. :)


So anyway, I told you this post was random.  Maybe that's the problem with pantsing.  In case you can't tell, I can really use your advice! :)

What Author Do You Want To Meet?

It's my debut Monthly Musing, something I'm really excited about.  On the 5th of each month I'm gonna pose a question for my blog readers that I've been thinking about.  I'd love for you to consider it too and let me know your musings on the topic.

April's Monthly Musing: What author (dead or alive?) would you like to meet?

My musings: I would love to meet this guy....

                                                           

Yeah.  Him.  I'd ask him where he got his inspiration for all his plays.  I'd ask how long it took him to write each play.  I'd ask him if he really wrote all of them (ya know, 'cuz there's all that controversy he didn't.)  I'd ask him if he would want to keep writing feather quill on paper, or if he'd want to try his hand at writing on the computer.  I'd ask him if/how he revises since he can't really copy and paste like I do.  I'd take him to see a play and see what he thinks of theater now (with women acting, whoa!). Or I'd go back into his time and see him perform in his own play in the Globe Theater.  

I think you get the idea.  So, your turn....what author do YOU want to meet?  What would you like to ask them?

Row80, I'm Back!

Fellow ROWers...I'm back!  Dun dun dun!  I took a break from Round 1 since I'm revising my manuscript and since I didn't have specific goals for the revising process (except to get 'er done) and I figured my updates would be pretty boring, I figured I'd save you from that.  You're welcome.

BUT....

I'm ready for the next stage in my writing and in need of my ROWers' and blogging buddies' support.  For my blogging buddies who don't know what ROW80 is, it stands for A Round of Words in 80 Days.  In every 80 day chunk (AKA Round) you come up with your own writing goals.  And they can be changed at any time, based on circumstances in your life or progress with your WIP.  I love ROW80!

So, without further ado, my writing goals for ROW80 Round 2:


1) Research agents to send query letters out to and submit first batch of queries before April 12th.  Continue sending out queries and requested materials based on responses.
2) Continue revising my manuscript based on beta readers' feedback.
3) Write a chapter a week for my new writing project.  More is awesome.  At least one chapter is doable.
4) Comment on fellow ROWers update posts. :)
